www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.auThe Japanese Gardens have a traditional waterfall, koi pond, timber bridge, stonework paths and flourishing plants. The teahouse was a Bicentennial gift from Koshigaya, Campbelltown's Sister City in Japan.Wander around the garden and relax to the tranquil sounds of the waterfall. The Gardens are a popular location for weddings, functions and photographs.
The Japanese Garden and Teahouse symbolises the beliefs and religion of both Shinto (the indigenous religion of Japan) and Zen Buddhism. Shinto beliefs are concerned with aspects of the universe and natural objects are the abode of spirits, resulting in an implanted reverence in Japanese people for nature. Zen Buddhism inspired the creation of gardens for contemplative or meditative practices, or to illustrate particular Zen concepts.
